The Lac de La Landie strectches out on the plateau d'Artense, at some 1036 meters above sea level, in the heart of the Natural Parc of Haute Auvergne Volcanoes. This lake was created thousands of years ago by the successive action of volcanoes and glaciers. Its waters hold a lake village as well as pottery dating back to the Iron Age...Round the lake you will find hardwood forest, secret peat bogs sheltering some seventy rare species of plants, reed beds swarming with life and meadows in bloom where grazing cows contribute to the making of the famous St Nectaire cheese, in a chorus of cowbells. North of this exceptionnal site, the Massif Central reaches its highest point of 1 886 m at the Puy de Sancy that reflects himself in the lake waters, while the Cantal mountains stand out on the southern horizon. The lake strechtes on about 75 acres, and is 20 m depth in its center foss, with a good water temperature for salmonid during all the year.

The Lake is also close to 2 ski resorts for your winter vacation. The first Super-Besse is located in the heart of tracks and at 20 km from Lake, in a huge natural, just over two mountain villages authentic: Besse and St Anastaise.
